A lot of that is sensitive information, and I used to encrypt it through loopback encryption when I was a Linux user. When I switched from Mandrake to Suse, the encrypted file became unmountable. Apparently, Suse doesn't support AES256 encryption for loopback devices, unless you fiddle with the kernel through outside patches. As anybody that used Linux for any length of time would tell you, applying outside patches to kernel is a really bad idea. You can no longer apply official Suse patches (including security patches, which are quite frequently issued, I might add) after that.  Is this brain-dead or what? Sure enough, there was an ad by Dell - "Linux Computer". Clicking the link takes you to a page with two PCs advertised, and neither of them runs Linux!! "Genuine Windows XP", it is. Dell is just messing with the Linux Loons! There is an ad by IBEXPC on the next google search results page. You go to the site, and click on 'Linux systems', and you find that for $329, you get an IBEX 4210 - AMD Sempron 2600+, 256MB memory, 80 GB hard disk, 52X CD-rom, a floppy drive, built-in video and ethernet, no monitor, and no OS! You can get Fedora or Ubuntu pre-loaded for an additional $39 (total $368). You go to circuit city, and find that for $349, you get an Acer PC with Sempron 3200+, 512MB memory, 160GB Sata hard disk, CD-RW/DVD-ROM, no floppy drive, built-in video and ethernet, no monitor, a 9-in-1 card reader an...

There used to be a menu on the left side of the screen that let you choose between Windows Computers, Linspire machines, Xandros PCs, Sun Java Desktops, and machines with no OS. That's all changed now. The # of Linux models is more than halved now compared to a year ago. I counted a total of 4 Linux models - 2 Linspire, 2 Xandros. According to archive.org, in March 2005, there were 10 Linux models. Linux is not conquering customers' minds and hearts, even when it is preloaded on a PC. What a surprise! Loon lies have no effect on the marketplace. How shocking! When can we expect the Loons to give up and switch to Windows enmasse? The bad thing, so are those who brought this board to over 360,000+ posts (for the most part). I am not leaving, though I do keep my nym here and elsewhere.
